FAQS

Ordering and other useful information

All the pieces in the By Harriet collections are hand made especially for you.

I don't offer just the conventional "shopping basket" experience for my hand made pieces as I believe that when creating the piece just for you that it should be tailored perfectly to meet your requirements.  That may be a change in size, different beads, a colour change or indeed it could be perfect just as it is already.  If you want to combine elements of different designs or have something entirely bespoke, then I can do this too.

If ordering Bridal pieces via the website order form, just let me know of any tweeks or changes you want, alternatively we can work together outside the confines of the website via email, phone calls or Skype to place your order.

> I love a design, I'd like to place my order with you!

> I'm not sure which to choose, can I try before I buy?

Of course you can! Getting all the finishing details just right for your special day can be daunting and I'm here to do whatever I can to make this process easier for you.  There are 3 main options for you.

  • Firstly if you are within a sensible travelling distance from me, you are very welcome to visit.

  • Your second option, I can arrange to send a box of samples for you to try.

Why not contact me and discuss the pieces you are interested in.  I would need credit card details or a cheque to the value payable to H Head to hold as a deposit until the items are returned. This option is perfect if you want to have a hair trial with several options to work with, try with a dress or outfit or just to take your time in the comfort of your own home.

Please note that my samples vary in condition, many have had exciting times on catwalks, exhibition stands, client loans and on photoshoots but are now nearing retirement, that said, they will be adequate for helping you decide what style suites you best.

  • Finally check my diary to see if I am exhibiting anywhere near you at a suitable point in the future, I'd be happy to see you there though I must advise that my stand can be rather busy so at times I may not be able to offer the full attention I'd like to.

> I think I'd like to talk ideas through, or get some good honest advice before ordering!

I can completely understand why you may wish to chat further.  These sorts of accessories aren't generally the sorts of things that we wear everyday.  I've been lucky enough to have been creating accessories for over 15 years and during that time have gained alot of experience which I am here to share.  I've had clients with widely varying requirements and we always work together to create the design that fits their individual brief, even if at the start they weren't too sure what that brief was!

> I've got a picture of a design I've seen that I really like, could you make it for me?

No.  This would be against the original designers' copyright and would be both unethical and illegal. If you have a specific idea in mind this can be used as a source of inspiration but no copies of other people's work will be undertaken. Wherever possible I will refer you back to the original designer.

> When do I need to order?

Lead times vary, I prefer to schedule my workload around your dress fitting and hair trial dates but we can chat about this in more detail later. If you need something in a hurry just ask and I'll see what I can do.  Payment is due prior to despatch.

> How do I make payment?

Payment must always be made in full prior to despatch. As with all areas of By Harriet I aim to be as flexible as I can.  Some brides prefer to make a single payment, others prefer to spread payments for larger orders.  If not ordering via the website I prefer payment by bank transfer for UK orders. I can send paypal invoices (no paypal account required) to those overseas or wishing to pay by card. I can also accept payment over the phone by card though reserve the right to make an additional £2 charge due to extra fees for this method.
