Can I try before I buy?
If I have a sample then yes, this provides you with reassurance and prevents timewasting and expense for me if you change your mind. There are three options, come and see me at a wedding show, visit me at home, or most popular, send me a cheque for the value of the items you wish to try as a deposit, together with your delivery details and then I can send the samples for you to try. I pay postage out, you pay postage back.
How do I order a hat?
I do not block the hats myself, I have a supplier who does this to order, I need to allow up to 14 days from placing my order to receiving the base hat, before I can start to trim.
- Choose a shape, there are several examples on screen, contact me for more images I can get over 50 shapes made and mix and match crown and brim shapes.
- Choose a colour, a reel of cotton can be a great colour match and I can send swatches, there are over 60 colours to choose from
- Talk through and choose your style of trim.
I like what I've seen, what do I do now?
I offer an individual service hence the site doesn’t operate with a shopping basket and checkout. If you are within reach and would like to meet at my home where I have all my samples and materials to hand, appointments are generally available week days, week nights and also on a weekend. This I appreciate for the vast majority of my clients has geographical restrictions so the alternative is for me to undertake a consultation by phone or email so that I can fully understand your requirements. You can order an exact replica of something you have seen on the site, an adapted version, or a new piece. There is no obligation with a consultation. After a telephone or email consultation a cheque will be required, once cleared the item will be despatched. For face to face orders, no payment is required until the finished goods are collected. In either instance cheques should be made payable to H Head.
How can designs be adapted?
- Mounts - circular tiara band for hair up, alice band to wear on an angle for tiaras with short hair or hair down, alice bands to wear concealed, combs, clips etc…
- Asymetrical designs will always be made to wear at the side of a parting as this is the most flattering and best covers the slim band.
- Beads - Crystals, clear or rainbow coated, coloured crystals, glass beads, real pearls, faux pearls, crystal pearls, fresh water pearls, coloured pearls etc…. the choice is yours
- Integrating your own items such as grandma's old crystal necklace or string of pearls is something I do regularly.
- Integrating your dress fabric offcuts.
- Different colours, shorter, taller, wider, flatter, heavier, daintier, the choice is yours.
- If it isn't possible to send me a swatch of fabric you could always send me a reel of cotton to provide me with best match details.
What about timescales?
Generally I aim for a 4 - 6 week turn round on an order, shorter timescales can be met (workload permitting). I prefer a bride to have her headdress in good time before the wedding if possible to permit for hair practices and trying with the dress. I have been known to turn orders round in a week in an emergency but likewise if you are ordering for a wedding a year in advance with no hair trials or dress fittings booked the timescales could increase dependent on workload. If you can advise me of your hair trial of fitting dates with reasonable notice, I will ensure that you have your order to by then.
What if the item isn't suitable when I receive it?
If you are not completely satisfied with your commission, return it within 10 days of receipt together with the original packaging. Please bear in mind that each item is individually made to your requirements and whilst you may return it within 10 days of receipt with a deduction for postage, under the distance selling regulations any item that is custom made to order is not subject to the 10 days legal requirements as a matter of course. I will refund within 21 days of receipt but reserve the right to retain 35% of the payment received towards labour and costs incurred in exceptional circumstances. Refunds will not be given however if the item has been worn.
Could you copy a design I've seen?
No, this would be against the original designers' copyright and would be both unethical and illegal. If you have a specific idea in mind this can be used as a source of inspiration but no copies of other people's work will be undertaken.
